Jo Koy was born in 1971 and grew up in Las Vegas. He entered the world of comedy in the mid 1990’s, doing stand-up at a comedy club in town, and quickly moved to the Catch a Rising Star show at the MGM Grand, as a featured regular on the show.
It was at Catch a Rising Star that Jo caught the attention of a Los Angeles talent rep, which led him to his appearance on Comic View (BET.) From there, Koy went on to star in a number of stand-up specials and earn a number of awards for his talents, but his pinnacle achievement was likely his performance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, which earned Koy a standing ovation, a nearly unheard of accolade from the audience. The achievement led to his gig with the Punisher Tour, alongside Carlos Mencia, performing to tens of thousands in arenas across the nation. Most recently, Jo Koy can be seen on Chelsea Lately, serving as one of her panelists.
In addition to his achievements in comedy, Jo Koy is also the founder of the Jo Koy Foundation, which seeks to raise funds for various causes. The organization’s recent Hilarity for Charity event raised funds to benefit the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
