Dale Earnhardt, Jr. was born in 1974 in North Carolina to racing legend Dale Earnhardt, so it was no surprise that he would begin to follow in his footsteps early, racing as a child and teenager even before competing professionally. By 1994 he’d captured the pole at the Greenville Merchants 300, and he was a participant in the same race that tragically took his father’s life in 2000. Since his father’s death, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. has gone on to become one of the era’s most successful and popular racers. He has been recognized as Most Popular Driver every single year since 2003 so far, and his presence in popular culture and media has extended far beyond the track. Dale Earnhardt Jr. has his own entertainment company, Dale Jr.’s Hammerhead Entertainment, which produces a weekly podcast and many other media projects. Currently, Dale Earnhardt Jr. drives the No. 88 Chevrolet SS and No. 88 Chevrolet Camaro.
