Carly Rae’s debut album, Tug of War, was released in 2008. Although the debut performed fairly well, it was nowhere near as successful as Jepsen’s sophomore effort, Kiss (2012), which featured the mega-hit “Call Me Maybe.” The single shot to the top of the charts and resulted in Jepsen’s first deal with an American label, Interscope Records, which has since overseen her rocket ride to success. Since that time, Carly Rae Jepsen has launched multiple tours, including serving as an opening act for Justin Beiber in late 2012. Jepsen has accumulated the following wins so far: Song of the Year (from the Canadian Radio Music Awards); Pop Recording of the Year (from the Western Canadian Music Awards); and the Rising Star Award (from the Billboard Music Awards.) Most recently, Carly Rae Jepsen has been selected as the spokesperson for the Candie’s clothing line, and she returned to the studio to begin work on her next studio album release. In the meantime, the compilation album, Kiss: The Remix, was released in 2013 in Japan, rising to the top of the charts in the country. Jepsen is most definitely a star on the rise and one to watch, with plans for future albums, performances, and tours on the horizon.
