Britney Spears has established herself as a celebrity like no other. From her early days on the Mickey Mouse Club, to the superstardom she experienced in the years following, she is a force to be reckoned with in the world of music. In 1996 Britney scored a deal with Jive Records, and began her work with music producers and writers who were already well established. “Baby One More Time” was released in 1998, and on the strength of its suggestive video, helped to rocket Britney’s debut album to number one on the charts. Within a year, it had sold ten million copies. Throughout the first years of the new millennium, Britney Spears dominated the pop charts with singles like  “Lucky,” “Stronger, and “Overprotected.” Britney Spears took a break from recording and performing for a few years, but returned with In the Zone in 2003. Her hit single “Toxic,” hit number one on the charts and snagged a Grammy for Best Dance Recording. In 2005, Britney Spears released Greatest Hits: My Prerogative, and Circus, in 2007, her sixth studio album. “Womanizer,” “If U Seek Amy,” and “Circus” were some of the singles off the album. Britney Spears has sold over 100 million albums worldwide and earned nine Billboard Music Awards, a Grammy, and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Billboard ranked her in 2009 as the eighth overall Artist of the Decade, and VH1 has ranked her on their 100 Greatest Women in Music.
