Avril Lavigne was signed to Arista Records in 2000 and spent two years working with a number of production teams to develop material for her first album. Let Go, Lavigne’s debut, was released in 2002 and rose to the number two spot on the charts in the United States. Overseas, it did even better, rising to the number one spot on the UK, Canadian, and Australian charts. The album featured the hit singles “Complicated,” “Sk8er Boi,” “I’m With You,” and “Losing Grip.” The albums Under My Skin (2004), The Best Damn Thing (2007), and Goodbye Lullaby (2011) followed, featuring the additional hits “Don’t Tell Me,” “Happy Ending,” “Nobody’s Home,” “He Wasn’t,” “Keep Holding On,” “Girlfriend,” “When You’re Gone,” “Hot,” “The Best Damn Thing,” “Alice,” “What the Hell,” “Smile,” “Wish You Were Here,” and “Here’s to Never Growing Up.” In her short career, and at her young age, Avril Lavigne has become one of the top pop artists in the world, selling more than thirty million albums and fifty million singles. Lavigne has also supported a number of charities and philanthropic organizations, including Amnesty International, Make-A-Wish Foudnation, Music Clearing Minefields, and Reverb.  In 2010, Avril founded her own charity, the Avril Lavigne Foundation, to assist children suffering with life-threatening illnesses.
